Loving With God’s Love

Loving With God’s Love

Praise be to . . . the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

2 Corinthians 1:3–4

I remember one time when God prompted me to walk across the street and meet one of my neighbors. I had been in the midst of a busy season in my life and hadn’t yet met her. What a divine appointment!

Her husband had just left her, and she desperately needed love and encouragement. Isn’t that just like God? To send someone to us at just the right time to comfort us and to love us.

When we cry out to God, He is endlessly creative in comforting us. Yet one reason God brings healing into our lives is so we can comfort others as He does His healing work in their lives.

God can use you to comfort others. As you share God’s love with hurting people, you are loving Him. You show your devotion to Him when you seize opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus, seeking to ease the pain of hurting people.

So ask God to open your eyes to the hurting around you. Pray for sensitivity to minister to them. You’ll find your love burning brighter and stronger when you do.

Lord God, thank You for loving me. Show me how to tell others, with my words and actions, how much I love You—and how much You love them.
