The Love Of The Father

The Love Of The Father

I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38–39

I loved my dad. I was only nineteen when he died, and it was devastating to our family. But as wonderful as he was to all of us, my relationship with him pales in comparison to the relationship we can have with our heavenly Father.

Whatever your earthly father was like—good or bad or nonexistent—God wants you to have the best now. He is a heavenly Father who truly loves you and will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

This kind of unconditional love and nurture is almost incomprehensible to us, and so often we feel that we must do something to earn His love. But God’s love can’t be earned, and it can’t be stopped. And yet I know firsthand that turning away from the impulse of trying to earn it is a daily journey.

We have to renew our hearts and minds to truly believe His love is a gift. It is pure grace. So, together, every day, let’s open up our hands and hearts to accept it.

Father God, Your love for me is truly incomprehensible! Help me learn to accept it and live my life confident in Your love for me.
