The Time Is Now
The Time Is Now
“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
John 17:3
The human heart loves a good story. The Bible is full of great stories, but let’s remember that they are not just stories. The people are not just characters. When we see these Bible heroes as people in a fairy tale, we think of them as somehow different from us, and we too easily conclude that they didn’t struggle with family issues, stress over decisions, or feel emotions. But if we believe that the Bible is true and its “characters” are people just like us, then we will read it very differently.
We will realize that the same issues are at stake—that the people we meet in Scripture needed to overcome the same fears, doubts, and challenges that we do. Legends like Abraham, Moses, Esther, David, and Paul overcame to choose courageous acts of obedience—and generations were saved.
What courageous acts of obedience are you willing to conquer? Never underestimate what your obedience can accomplish, especially when people’s eternal future is at stake. Whatever is before you—and whoever will cross your path—God will empower you, just as He did His people in the Bible, to share your faith, to stand up for what’s right, to lead and lead well.
Lord, thank You for calling me to be in this time and this place. Show me how to act for You, and lead me toward those who need You.
