We Are Chosen

We Are Chosen

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last.”

John 15:16

For years, I didn’t know I was adopted. But after I found out, and began to share freely the journey God had taken me through, I began to realize that my story connected with so many others. It was actually a gift I could share to help others. I realized that because I knew that I was chosen by God—despite being left unnamed and unwanted in a hospital—I could help others discover that they too had been chosen by God, regardless of the circumstances of their lives.

I remember when I read “unnamed” on my birth certificate for the very first time. That may have been what the hospital staff believed, but God’s word said differently: “Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name (Isaiah 49:1).

Regardless of our start in life, you and I are chosen. Named. Wanted. Nothing about my birth—or yours—was random or accidental. I was born for this time—and so were you. So as we step out into our day, let’s help others discover the wonder of how they are chosen too. Let’s bear fruit that will last by sharing our stories of God’s great love.

Father God, thank You for choosing me—and letting me help others know they are chosen too.
