Your Pilgrimage On Earth
Your Pilgrimage On Earth
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household.
Ephesians 2:19
Do you realize that if you are a follower of Jesus, this world is not your home? You are already a citizen of heaven but living temporarily on this earth as you journey toward eternity with Him. The purpose of our time on earth is to learn to walk with Him, abide in Him, and live through Him—and then share that light with others.
Growing up in a strict and very orthodox home, I remember being told each Sunday, “Christine, you’d better behave in church because God is watching you!” I soon learned that fun did not happen at church, and I compartmentalized my life. That meant I was Christian Christine for a few hours every Sunday, and during the rest of the week, I lived the way I wanted.
Only when I surrendered my heart to Jesus did I realize that He is with me in every situation, each day, and not just for a few hours on Sunday. This new perspective changed the way I live. It reminded me that every day, I am on a pilgrimage with the very Person whose image I want to reflect.
The point of your daily pilgrimage is to become more like your Savior, Jesus, not just for a few hours a week, but in your deepest self. It’s to realize He’s preparing you for what He’s prepared for you—which is your purpose here on earth and your place in eternity (John 14:3).
Lord, thank You for walking with me in this pilgrimage, each and every day, toward my purpose here and then with You in eternity.
