Your Vital Contribution

“You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:8

Taking the gospel to the ends of the earth—to every single living person—sounds like a tall order. Is it even possible in our lifetime? Let me share some encouraging math.

Statistics vary, but let’s just assume that there are two billion Christians on earth today. If there are eight billion people on earth, and every one of us reached three or four people in our community for Christ—can you imagine how quickly the world would come to know about Christ? Think about what might happen if we each took seriously our mandate to transform our communities by being salt and light (Matthew 5:13–16). We could achieve in one week what the greatest preaching evangelist could not possibly achieve in a lifetime. Can you see the urgency here?

Even so, we still have a long way to go. Sharing the gospel around the world will require each and every one of us to do our part. Only then will the church be able to fulfill this God-given mandate. You count, and your contribution to this holy effort matters. Don’t minimize the vital part you play in helping share the gospel to the ends of the earth, with those who have not yet heard it.

Help me, God, to play my part as Your witness where You’ve placed me. Show me how and where to share Your love!
