Cherish The Gift Of Your Wife - A Minute of Vision for Men
Cherish the Gift of Your Wife
Bud Grant, former head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, said, “A good football coach needs a patient wife, a loyal dog, and a great quarterback—but not necessarily in that order.” There is no position on the field that can replace the quarterback. To win football games, you must have a good one. But to win at home, guys, we must value our wives.
Over our twenty-one years of marriage, my wife, Julee, and I have had our differences and our challenging moments, like every other couple. But the vast majority of our married life has been great. I am proud to write that and am thankful for my wife. I am blessed beyond measure to be married to Julee Lyn Patterson.
Proverbs 18:22 says, “The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the LORD.” Men, we must believe this passage of Scripture with all of our hearts. When the Bible says a wife is a treasure, rest assured it means that God gave us our wives. God’s gift to Adam was Eve, and though they didn’t have the perfect relationship, the Bible calls her his perfect complement. I would suspect that you don’t have the perfect relationship either, but your wife is a great complement to you.
I want to remind you today that God sees your wife as a treasure and that in giving her to you, he has shown you favor. I want to challenge you to find a way to cherish your wife as the treasure she is! Honor her this week with a surprise that declares your love and her worth to you. May the Lord bless your marriage this year beyond measure!
The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the LORD.
