MY QUESTION for GOD

Can a married man have close friendships with other women?

A MOMENT with GOD

Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters.

1 Timothy 5:2

Anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Matthew 5:28

Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. . . . So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.

Ephesians 5:3-4, 15

Friendships with women are an important part of most men’s lives, but they can also be a powerful source of temptation. Jesus had many female friends, some of whom supported his ministry and even traveled with him, so it is appropriate for men to have healthy friendships with women. However, married men must be extra cautious to ensure that any friendships with other women do not turn into emotional relationships in which strong feelings can become inappropriate intimacy. This betrays the trust and commitment a man shares with his wife. Here are three ways to safeguard yourself: Never be alone with a female friend; avoid talking about your marital problems; always treat other women with great respect. Doing these things will help you strengthen your relationship with your wife and with God.

DIVINE PROMISE

God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. Matthew 5:8
