A Beautiful Character

A Beautiful Character

There’s a saying that what is beautiful isn’t always good but that what is good is always beautiful.

The first part is true in the world of entertainment. If a TV show or movie is beautiful—the look, feel, and storytelling evokes pleasure or excitement—then we are told it must also be good, even if it isn’t.

But consider the second part. If a man, just out of jail, wears thrift store clothes to apply for work and live responsibly, that’s beautiful. If a woman dresses more modestly to honor her purity and not tempt her male coworkers, that’s also beautiful. These good acts may not be beautiful in our culture’s eyes, but in the life that matters, they are drop-dead gorgeous.

Don’t look to our culture to define how you should look to others. Honor God and others with your good character, and your show will be must-see viewing.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. —Proverbs 31:30
