When Life Isn’t Fair

We grow up learning that life isn’t always fair. The rich get richer. Pretty girls get the guy. Bad people get away. You just can’t find an honest mechanic. While some of these complaints may not be as true as we imagine, it is true that life isn’t always fair.

But does this excuse you to respond in kind? If a mechanic cheats you, does that mean you should take advantage of others? Because some pretty girl stole your guy in high school, does that mean you should punish your husband for not meeting your teenage fantasy? Because people hurt others and get away with it, does that mean you shouldn’t come clean when you realize you’ve caused someone pain?

The life that matters is often what you make it. Let your character ring true in how you treat others. The fairer you are, the more the unfairness around you won’t matter.
