Ambition Upside Down

Consider revolutionaries such as Galileo, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr. They saw the world in an entirely different way than the majority. But now most of us look back and realize that they were right. What the world thought was right-side up was actually upside down.

Jesus was a revolutionary in the way He looked at humility. Most people considered humility a virtue, but they tended to relegate it to the harmless domain of kindly grandmothers and reverent monks. People don’t believe you can make a difference through humility, but can only leave a mark on the world looking out for number one.

Of course, the desire to make a difference isn’t the problem. The problem is that in reaching for the heights of success, we tend to trample on what matters along the way.
