Belonging To What Matters
Belonging to What Matters
Think about some people who have made a real impact on our world: Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Jesus Christ.
They probably weren’t the most popular in school. Their fashion choices have never graced a magazine cover. They weren’t beautiful according to the world’s standards. Really, according to the culture of cool, we shouldn’t give them a second glance.
But they reminded people of the importance of connecting to what has come before. They defended traditions worth preserving. They showed that heaven exists among the lowly and common and that we can become better people.
Mostly, they shared a message of love and belonging, that there is more to life than fitting in and looking cool.
What you’ve been looking for in the new and improved has been here all along. You can take a rest from the race and belong to a people and a life that matters.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. —Romans 12:2
