Running In God’s Strength

Running in God’s Strength

You begin your run. You choose a pace as your feet contact the concrete. You move your arms. Your breathing quickens. Your calves start to burn. Your muscles ache. Your breath becomes an engine. You focus on the rhythm of your feet. No matter how weak you feel, you’re going to make it to the end.

There’s another type of weakness that matters—the weakness you feel when you step out to tackle what is difficult, seeking to build your stamina and strength to run the race for what matters. You press on because reaching the goal is more important than your weakness.

Running in God’s strength won’t be easy. You’ll feel the pain of change, of being challenged by your weaknesses to move beyond your passive life of ignoring what’s wrong and running toward what’s right.

Run the difficult race. The weakness you feel will become an opportunity to focus on your next steps and to strive ever harder for the finish line.

Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing, but to turn it into glory. —William Barclay
