Those You Don’t Know

Perhaps you’ve made strides with your relationships. Your family is a priority. You nurture your friendships. You engage your community. But there’s just one problem. Not many of your relationships include those with whom you have nothing in common.

There’s another hill to climb regarding the relationships that matter—how well you seek out, welcome, and relate to strangers, those with different cultures, belief systems, and lifestyles than your own. Consider also those who are alone in their need—the social outcast, the economically disadvantaged, the chronically ill.

By honoring the different viewpoints or circumstances of another person, you’ll discover you have more in common than you realize. The need for humility in what you believe. To let love rise to the forefront so you can find unity amid your differences.

Relationship is the currency that matters. Spend some of those dollars on people you don’t know.
