Weakness
Weakness
We’re not supposed to be weak, some say. Weakness is frowned upon. You have to be strong to make the team. You have to be strong to climb the corporate ladder and overcome obstacles.
So we try to be strong. We put on the face of strength when we go to work. We wear the “I’ve-got-it-all-together” suit at church. We smile and say, “Fine,” when friends ask how we’re doing. But we’re not always strong. In ways we’ll never admit to others, we’re weak.
By admitting your weakness, you’ll discover another opportunity—a chance to stop trying to be strong in your own strength and to seek your strength from God. What’s wrong with the world and ourselves is often rooted in people trying to strive in their own strength. The only way to find the strength to truly make things right is to trade your weakness for His strength.
You have to admit, that’s a pretty good deal.
He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” —2 Corinthians 12:9
