Failure

I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations.

WE HATE THE WORD FAILURE, don’t we? The thought of having to say it aloud sends shivers up the spine, ties our stomach in knots, and gives us a headache! However, if we never say we are wrong, then we can never figure out what would be right! There is no sin in saying we have failed.

If you are not matching up to the Bible and God’s plan in one area of your life, it is not news to God. He already sees it! “Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard” (Romans 3:23). Left to yourself, using all your own strength and power, you will fall short. Paraphrased, it might be, “You were wrong. You failed. You are not perfect.” It is no sin to acknowledge you fell short—that is just agreeing with God. God likes it when you live in agreement with him.

However, there is a sin if you say, “I am a failure.” Jesus came down and died in our place so we’d never have to see ourselves as a failure. Instead of replaying Satan’s lies in your mind, reject the lie and state the truth.

“The truth is I have failed here. The truth is that God sees me as a winner, so what do I need to change to get my reality to match up with God’s picture of me?”

Is there a sin to avoid, a habit to unlearn, a new skill to learn, or a piece of information I need? If I did this all over again, what would I do differently this time?
