Red Marks the Spot

God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.

ROMANS 11:29

RAHAB BELIEVED the Hebrew spies. She learned about the true God from them. She believed enough to let them down to escape through her window on the wall. Now it was time to act on her belief. The instructions were clear.

She and her family had to be in the house, and the red cord must hang from the window. No matter what was happening around them, she must believe and then act on this information (see Joshua 2:17-18). The troops of Israel marched around her city.

For seven days she wouldn’t let her family leave. Some may have complained, some may have doubted her, but she stood firm. They had to stay and wait there. The red cord was their safety line to freedom.

God has called you to freedom. He has laid a dream on your heart. You have a calling—are you going to act on it? Some people may criticize you, others may doubt, and some may complain.

Will you still stand firm in your call and act on it? Doing so will lead to freedom.
