Run Away

Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.

MARK 6:31

A GROUP OF MOTHERS CHATTED: “I was so upset and stressed the other night, I felt like running away from home!”

“I hear you! Once, I was so mad at my husband I wanted to run away. It was late at night, so I couldn’t figure out where to run. I didn’t want to spend the money for a hotel or drive to one myself at that hour. The beach isn’t safe, so I just went and sat in the car! Then I was afraid even sitting in the car alone. I thought, This is stupid! Why do I want to run away? Everyone I love is in that house! So I went back in and went to sleep. Things looked better in the morning.”

“I know. One time I was so stressed, so frustrated with my family, I wanted to go on strike and leave them on their own. Then I thought, They will think I am crazy if I up and leave at 2 a.m. So I stayed, and over breakfast I said, ‘I want everyone to know that I am going to spend today and tonight at a health spa. I need a day off, and you’ll be on your own for meals.’

“Their response, including my husband’s was, ‘That’s great, Mom! You deserve it!’ I couldn’t even be mad at them anymore, but I did go to the spa anyway. It was great!”

Maybe you need a break, instead of an emotional breakdown.

Plan some time that will restore and replenish you.
