Beautiful Word Devotional #136
I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
Job 19:25
You may be familiar with these words as lyrics to a popular Christian hymn. But consider who first said these words—Job, a man described as “blameless and upright” but who had everything taken away from him (Job 1:8).
So many times we blame God when things go wrong. The last thing we want to do is make faith-filled statements about him when we feel abandoned. But Job gives us an amazing example to follow. He shifted his focus from his circumstances and sorrows, and he fixed his eyes on his redeemer.
Your redeemer does live. He will stand on this earth, victorious over sin and death. That truth should usher in a heap of joy and peace. You may be facing worry and stress, but you can choose to focus on the reality of God’s ever-present power for you and the eternal life he has for you. He is victorious. And because he lives, you will too.
Lord, I want to focus on you, my redeemer, who lives! I want to live in light of your victory over sin and death, amen.
