Beautiful Word Devotional #149

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.

Isaiah 40:8

As winter becomes spring, we see barren land shoot forth green sprigs that will grow and flower. They may be at their peak in the summer and then wilt and die when autumn arrives.

Isaiah may have had in mind this rhythm of the seasons when he referred to the withering grass and the falling flowers. But that was simply his backdrop for the rock-solid truth that God’s Word will never change. That may be especially good news right now if you’re walking through a season of lack, or you’re bewildered about the mystifying and rapid change swirling all around you. Open the Bible. Look to God’s words and find in them help for enduring the chaos and uneasiness. Our eternal God is steady and unchanging, and you can count on that truth even when life feels unsteady.

Despite the change all around you, God is still your rock, the best foundation for life and the true source of wisdom and hope.

Lord, thank you for being sure and unchanging when I live in the midst of much change, amen.
