Beautiful Word Devotional #168

“This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous.”

Matthew 13:49

Too many of us are shortsighted about life. We only see what’s right in front of us—the tasks to complete, relationships to attend to, and bills to pay. But this verse points us to the end and reminds us that there’s so much more to life than mowing lawns, meeting quotas, or staying fit. Someday we will reap the reward of a life well lived . . . if we have lived it well.

Knowing there will be an end to our lives, we are wise to ask, “How shall we live?” Are we spending our lives on the right things and in the right places? And what are we doing in our day-to-day life to honor God, to make him smile, to delight him?

Lord, help me live in light of eternity today and tomorrow and every day, amen.
