The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

Romans 8:16

You are God’s sweet child. Think about that. Maybe your folks are alive, or maybe they have passed. Maybe you grew up in a home where a parent neglected or harmed you. But having named Jesus your Savior and Lord, you will never be parentless. Your heavenly Father calls you and welcomes you into his family.

Everything a good parent does, God the Father does. He watches your progress. He sings songs of joy over you. He disciplines you so your soul will prosper and you’ll become mature and wise. He protects and provides for you. He blesses you with good relationships. He sets you on your own two feet after rescuing you from sin and healing you.

Oh, child of God, how loved you are! Whatever you do today, whatever you think, however far away you run, this bedrock truth remains: you are loved by your Father. Settle yourself into his wide embrace today. Rest there. Be loved, beloved.

Lord, thank you for being my heavenly Father and perfect parent. Thank you for loving me my whole life through, amen.
