Beautiful Word Devotional #236

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?

1 Corinthians 6:19

In the Old Testament, God dwelled among the Israelites in a cloud, fire, a tabernacle, and then the temple’s Holy of Holies. God’s people could point to the presence of God with them, but they could not enter the Holy of Holies without risking their lives.

When Jesus died, however, the veil that surrounded the Holy of Holies was torn in two, from top to bottom. What a picture of what Jesus did! God ripped the curtain from heaven downward, declaring that the way into his presence was now open.

And now—as the apostle Paul taught—our very bodies house God’s glory. You have the very presence of God—the Holy Spirit—housed within you. What an amazing privilege and blessing!

If you feel far from God today, stop a moment and simply consider this profound truth. You are the house of God. The Holy Spirit abides inside you. And he always will.

Lord, I’m amazed that you live within me. Help me realize how awesome that is, amen.
