Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

Hebrews 10:24

In this passage, the author of Hebrews reminded us how important it is for us to spend time with like-minded believers. We must choose to make an effort and spend time with people who sharpen us and encourage us in our walk with Christ.

But the sharpening and encouragement need to go both ways. As we hang out with awesome people, we’re to be part of their life change as well. We are to encourage the people in our lives to love others and to do good to them.

One way we encourage people is to let them know when they’re doing well. Sometimes, though, we go first and, by our example, encourage others to live well and love well. As all of us strive to live like Jesus, we are encouraging one another to keep at it.

So consider today how you might encourage someone toward good deeds—possibly by doing some yourself.

Lord, thank you for my friends. Use any good deeds I do today to encourage them “toward love and good deeds,” amen.
