Beautiful Word Devotional #271

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Ephesians 6:11

And what is the full armor of God? The belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. We need all this armor to protect us from Satan, our wily enemy who schemes against us.

Satan longs for us to doubt God’s goodness, so we shield ourselves from his lies and choose instead to live by faith in God’s ability to take care of us. Satan’s greatest defeat was the resurrection that ensured our salvation, and we revel in that beautiful and eternal deliverance. Last, we carry our offensive weapon, the Word of God—which is the very thing Jesus used to stand strong when the devil tempted him in the wilderness.

The battle is unseen but very real, as is our armor of God.

Lord, I thank you for providing the complete suit of armor and the only weapon I need to be protected from my enemy, amen.
