“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”

Luke 12:48

Step by step, children grow in the amount of responsibility they can handle. So parents start by giving them little tasks—like picking up their toys. Soon the children can load the dishwasher or sweep the floor. Successfully shouldering these responsibilities is a building block for bigger jobs like mowing the lawn.

Similarly, we who are God’s children move from smaller responsibilities to greater. God entrusts us with increasingly bigger tasks as we grow in our knowledge of him. And the more we grow spiritually, the greater the responsibilities we are ready for.

If you find yourself with more and more responsibility in the kingdom, rejoice. God is seeing your growth and rewarding you with responsibilities that will bless others and grow you even more.

Lord, thank you for growing my knowledge of you, deepening my relationship with you, entrusting me with greater responsibilities in your kingdom, and enabling me to fulfill them, amen.
