Beautiful Word Devotional #281

“In quietness and trust is your strength.”

Isaiah 30:15

This truth comes from Isaiah, a prophet in the Old Testament, but it’s a perfectly crafted reminder for us today.

Unfortunately, the world has a different perspective. It says that strength comes from voicing everything, in being louder than other voices. And trust? It’s overrated, the world says, particularly when it’s pointed toward God.

Don’t let the world weaken your commitment to being with the Lord. Your right perspective on life in general as well as on specific situations will often come in the quiet moments you spend alone with God. When he isn’t competing with the world’s noise, you’ll hear him more clearly. You’ll also experience renewed strength when you choose to trust God instead of relying on your efforts.

Finally, God is trustworthy and kind, and you are his child who desperately needs his wise parental guidance. Trust, then, means letting him parent you throughout your day.

Lord, please help me find quiet places where I can listen for your voice—and then please help me to hear you, amen.
