Beautiful Word Devotional #284
With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
Psalm 108:13
Notice that in writing this psalm, David didn’t say that you will trample down your enemies. God will do that. Our natural desire is to pay back people who have caused us pain or dealt with us wrongly, but the consequences of their actions are for God to determine, not us.
The victory over the desire to seek and enact vengeance comes only when you are closely connected to God. When you are, you will find yourself releasing more and more of yourself and your life to him, letting him deal with your “enemies.”
Don’t live your life in bitterness. Choose the path of victory—the path of forgiving, letting go, and asking God to soften your wounded and hard heart. As you walk this path, pray for those who have injured you and trust that your loving God has you in the palm of his hand.
Lord, I trust you to bring justice in your time and your way. And I ask you to help me forgive the one(s) who hurt me so deeply, amen.
