Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.

1 Chronicles 4:10

An honorable man named Jabez prayed this powerful prayer. Having an attitude like his can greatly enhance your prayer life.

Ask God to enlarge your territory beyond your life of safety and ease. Ask him to stir you up and show you ministries to pursue that would take you out of your comfort zone. Ask him to unsettle you and lead you to walk in places where you absolutely have to trust him.

Ask that God’s hand would be with you. Wherever you go, you need his hand of guidance and protection. You need his presence and power.

Ask God to keep you from harm, from the attack of the evil one, even from the harsh words of gossip and slander. This is not a prayer to escape the inevitability of heartache that comes in life. This is a prayer of surrender to the sovereign God, that he would have his way in your life.

Lord, enlarge my ministry. May your hand be with me. Please keep me from harm, amen.
