Beautiful Word Devotional #289

Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.

Psalm 127:1

We spend a lot of time building our lives, don’t we? Just living takes a lot of time. Sometimes we can get so caught up in the details of our lives that we can go days without connecting with God.

We are meant to live life in tandem with the Lord. He wants to guide and bless our steps. He longs to strengthen foundations of truth and love and joy. He desires to build into us traits like faithfulness, patience, and peace—traits that reflect his presence in our hearts and our lives.

Furthermore, no matter what you do, you cannot make yourself holy. You can’t conjure up peace on your own. God is at work making you more holy, more like Jesus, and he blesses you with peace. And he wants to give you, his beloved child, so much more. So ask God to build you as he sees fit. Surrender to his direction and plans for you. He will build the house of your life, and it will be beautiful.

Lord, please build the house of my life. I surrender to you today, amen.
