Beautiful Word Devotional #330
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7
Ask . . . Seek . . . Knock . . . Do you see a growing intensity in the person’s prayers? Sometimes a respectful request is sufficient. Sometimes we need to pray with a bit more passion and intensity. And sometimes we need to be willing to make some noise and take action as we approach our heavenly Father.
Jesus encouraged his followers to pray specifically and with respect, perseverance, and passion. And Jesus reassured his followers that God will answer, that those who pray will receive, find, and have the door opened. After all, Jesus pointed out, not even a human father would give his child a stone if the boy asked for bread! So of course our heavenly Father will respond to our prayers, giving us what is in line with his will and best for us.
And if God answers with a no or “Wait” rather than a yes, we know that we still have the gift of his presence with us. And he is the best answer to prayer.
Lord, help me pray with perseverance yet trusting in your good and perfect will, amen.
