Beautiful Word Devotional #344

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

Psalm 133:1

Jesus said that people will know that we follow him when they see the love we have for each other. The apostle Paul talked about the body of Christ and how important it is for believers to have connection, community, and unity. The author of Hebrews encouraged believers to gather together, encourage one another, and “spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (10:24). Peter encouraged believers to bear each other’s burdens. And the apostle John wrote much about love, particularly loving other believers.

Clearly, love and unity are to characterize God’s people. When we live in unity as the psalmist celebrated, we will experience good and pleasant times. Life is more peaceful when we choose unity and grace.

In what relationship do you need to choose unity and grace? In light of this verse, let go of bitterness. Ask for forgiveness if necessary; extend forgiveness if necessary. Be a person of reconciliation and know God’s pleasure in you.

Lord, show me whom I need to reconcile with—and give me the courage to do so, amen.
