Beautiful Word Devotional #353
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8
In our world of chaos and pain, we can find it hard to fall asleep at the end of the day. Our minds spin with cares and worries, and we haven’t always let go of the past. We review regrets, missed opportunities, and what we should’ve done. No wonder sleep does not come easily some nights!
But today’s verse reminds us of God’s great care for us, and he wants us to get a good night’s sleep. He wants to listen to our anguished prayers. He wants us to give him our burdens and worries. He cares about them because we do, and he is far more capable of carrying them and resolving them than we are. And we can trust our faithful God to run the world as we sleep.
God offers you peace and wants to bless you with sleep every night as you lie down. Instead of cataloging your worries in your head, give them over to him tonight.
Lord, I want to receive your gift of sleep, so please take from me the worries crowded in my head, amen.
