Beautiful Word Devotional #86

Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:17–18

Many of us long to know God’s will: Where should we live? What should we do?

But in today’s Scripture, Paul stated God’s will very clearly. If we do the two things Paul mentioned, we will always be doing God’s will.

First, we must pray continually. We are, in other words, to maintain a continual conversation with God throughout the day.

We also are to give thanks in every situation we find ourselves in. Even when we’re in pain, we look to find something beautiful, and we thank God for that. If we are facing a challenge, we thank him in advance for growing us through that difficulty.

Both these tasks—praying and giving thanks—are daily. Actually, they are to continue throughout each day. Know that as you pray and give thanks, other aspects of God will become clearer. So take some time today to pray and to practice gratitude.

Lord, I give you every aspect and every minute of my day. And I choose to thank you no matter what happens, amen.
