Beautiful Word Devotional #98

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

2 Corinthians 10:4

This world we see is not all that it seems. The Bible, for instance, reveals that a spiritual battle continuously rages all around us. We have a very real enemy, Satan, the accuser, who has made it his mission to steal, kill, and destroy (see John 10:10).

But we can’t fight the spiritual battle against Satan with earthly weapons, as Paul stated above. The only effective weapons against spiritual attack are spiritual ones. Prayer, for instance, moves the heart of God and slays dragons. Giving with joy breaks down greed and pride. Intercession (praying for others) brings peace where there was conflict. Worship ruins Satan’s plans. Saying the name of Jesus silences demonic voices.

Sometimes it’s hard to see the spiritual dimension of life. So today, take some time to consider that the issues you face are spiritual in nature. Set aside time to pray. Ask others to pray. Sing a worship song. You’ll be fighting with spiritual weapons!

Lord, help me to boldly engage in the battle raging around me and use effectively the spiritual weapons you provide, amen.
