The breath prayers in this book are rooted in Scripture because the Word of God is where lasting hope is found. Scripture is our source of knowledge about God. It’s where we learn about His character and promises, about His goodness and grace. His Word is where we are reminded that God is our shield when the enemy’s arrows of fear are hurled at us, and He is our shelter when the storms of suffering beat down hard. His Word gives us hope that these dark days are not the end of the story, that the worries of today won’t last forever, and that we have a hope that is bigger than our fears.

What is heavy in your life today? Fill your mind with His words, cling to His truth, and let it be your shield and shelter, whatever the day may bring.
