You Can Turn Your Eyes To God
You Can Turn Your Eyes To God
Breathe Deep and Know: No matter how far you may have drifted or how distracted you have been, God is here to guide you back toward His ways.
Like the current of a river, a current is always flowing in our lives. If we’re not paying careful attention, we’ll drift along with the current of this world—culture, busyness, consumption, empty pursuits—and drift in ways we never intended. Before we know it, we may have lost all sense of direction and purpose, uncertain of the truths we once saw so clearly.
Prayer is like a rudder that helps us navigate the current and stay away from the riffles and rapids, away from what the Bible calls “worthless” things that can pull us under, distract us from our purpose, and flood us with anxiety.
And so we keep praying. We keep turning our eyes toward Christ because the current of the world never stops trying to pull us away and turn our attention to other things.
Ask God today to turn your eyes from the things that are not worthy of your attention—things that aren’t eternal, that won’t last, that pull you off course, that fill you with fear—and toward Him and His ways.
Turn my eyes away from looking at what is worthless, and revive me in Your ways.
Psalm 119:37 NASB
