Daily Power #114
When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; and their sight was restored. (Matt. 9:28–30)
When my oldest daughter Catie was maybe two or three, she got a terrible case of poison ivy. The doctor gave us some ointment but said Catie would just have to endure the painful itching for at least a week.
Once we were home, Catie was crying and scratching, and I said, “Baby, I know it’s hard but don’t scratch and it’ll get better in a few days, okay?”
“No, Daddy,” she said, “Jesus is going to heal me.”
It was such a sweet moment, so innocent and pure. But I wanted Catie to understand that Jesus doesn’t always heal us the way we want when we want it, so I tried to explain it to her.
“No, Daddy,” she insisted. “Jesus is going to make my poison ivy go away. I prayed and he’s going to heal me.”
I decided not to argue with her but dreaded seeing her crushed the next day when she was still itchy. The next morning, Amy and I were still in bed when Catie ran in wearing nothing but her Barney panties and beamed, “Mommy and Daddy, look! Ta-da!”
“Put some clothes on, young lady!” Amy said. “Where are your pajamas?”
“No, Mommy—look! It’s gone.”
There wasn’t a sign of poison ivy anywhere on Catie’s little body. God had honored the faith of a little child. He will honor your faith too.
