Daily Power #115

“Praise be to the name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are his.” (Dan. 2:20)

At our house, spring cleaning often resulted in more chaos and clutter than when we started. Once the weather turned warmer, Amy and I usually picked a Saturday when all of us—six kids and two parents—could be there, which was no small feat. Each child was responsible for collecting his or her broken toys along with the ones they had outgrown. Amy and I tried to go room by room and get rid of as much clutter as possible before moving on to our garage.

The only problem was that what one kid wanted to get rid of, her brother or sister would start playing with. And what Amy wanted to throw out, I usually knew we better save. You never know when you might need a weight bench with ripped padding or that old tire that would make a perfect tree swing someday. You get the picture.

Our spiritual lives can benefit from a good spring cleaning too. When we confess our sins to God, he forgives us and grants us a clean slate. When we face our secrets, addictions, and ongoing struggles, God gives us his power to find help and win our battles. Sometimes he prunes our lives and shows us what to focus on cleaning up. Other times, he just wants us to experience the joy and peace of knowing we’re forgiven.

Clear out the clutter of sin and let God cleanse your heart.

Power Lift

Jesus, today I want to clean out my heart and let go of all the worries, guilt, and sinfulness that has accumulated there. Thank you for bearing my sins so that I can be white as snow.
