“How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!” (Ps 36:7 NKJV)

“I’m really proud of you.”

Just five little words. That’s all it took to #MeltDadsHeart. My oldest daughter, Catie, had texted me at 8:22 p.m. one Sunday night not long ago (I know because I saved it). It was one of those special moments where she surprised me with the simple gift of those five little words. It means more to me now that Catie’s an adult and married, because it was totally unexpected. The fact that she was thinking of me, and was proud of me, meant more to me than she could ever know.

One quick text is all it took to make me feel #SoHappy #LoveThatGirl #LifeIsGreat.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can produce enormous rewards. When someone holds the door for us, surprises us with a cup of coffee, or thanks us for our help, we feel respected, appreciated, and valued. Often these little gifts of courtesy and compassion have a larger impact than anything else that person could have given.

When we give these same kinds of gifts to others, we may have no idea how we’re impacting their day. But those little kindnesses add up and remind each of us—both giving and receiving—of God’s abundant blessings in our lives. Today let your attitude of kindness toward others reflect your Father’s kindness toward you.

Lord, I’m amazed at the way you continue to shower me with blessings and reveal your unfailing kindness to me. Allow me to bless others with the same spirit of loving generosity.
