Deeper Life #106
Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
—Psalm 31:20
WHEN HUMAN THOUGHT IS NAIVE, life looks simple, and history may be explained in ways that are simple and glib. For instance, some so-called scholars talk about “evolution.” This system of thought is a simple and obvious development of modern reasoning. But when you and I talk about the Fall of man, the evolutionists think we are absurd.
However, when we are made to face life as it is, and history as it is recorded in Genesis, and the human soul in all its tragic features and triumphs, our minds are staggered. Our thinking then becomes subdued, and the human spirit is forced to cry out, “Oh, that I knew where I might find Him that I might even come before His presence!”
Prayer Thought: O Lord, keep me in the security of Your presence and the shelter of Your love.
