Put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.
—Ephesians 4:22
A DIVINE DISPOSITION CAN TAKE THE place of the dark disposition of sin. This divine disposition is the last and glorious work of Christ to be experienced this side of heaven. This is the work of grace that makes us “more than conquerors.”
As Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:21, Jesus Christ was made to be “sin,” not sins. Jesus took up my disposition of sin so that I might be free from sin—not free from my personality or my ruined human nature. Jesus came to dispose of that old monster of sin in human nature that has ruled and ruined it.
When you are born again, the Spirit of God soon brings you to the altar again. For what purpose? To destroy that old disposition of sin. Crucifixion is a cruel, ghastly death; but you and I must be willing to endure it. Our religion is a vain farce unless we have died to the disposition of sin. Our Lord is merciless to sin.
Prayer Thought: Thank You, Lord, for full deliverance from the sinful nature that shadows and threatens my spiritual life.
