Apathy
Apathy
MY QUESTION for GOD
How do I fight feelings of apathy?
A MOMENT with GOD
God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent.
Hebrews 6:10-12
We must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.
Hebrews 2:1
[Jesus said,] “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!”
Revelation 3:15-16
In the book of Revelation, apathy is compared to lukewarm water. Cold water quenches thirst and refreshes a parched mouth. Hot water is used for cooking and sanitizing. But lukewarm water has little appeal. Apathy is much the same. When apathy settles in, it means that passion and purpose are gone. It is like a disease that feeds on your cares and motivations and wastes your talents and gifts. Recognizing your apathy can be a divine moment—you suddenly realize that you must change course before you become useless to God and others. Hard work, a thankful heart, and acts of service can help you fight off feelings of apathy and renew your focus on God’s purpose, his call for you, and the blessings he has given you.
DIVINE PROMISE
I WILL GIVE THEM SINGLENESS OF HEART AND PUT A NEW SPIRIT WITHIN THEM. I WILL TAKE AWAY THEIR STONY, STUBBORN HEART AND GIVE THEM A TENDER, RESPONSIVE HEART.
Ezekiel 11:19
