Empathy
Empathy
My Question for God
How does empathy nurture genuine love?
A Moment with God
Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.
Romans 12:15
I have the daily burden of my concern for all the churches. Who is weak without my feeling that weakness? Who is led astray, and I do not burn with anger?
2 Corinthians 11:28-29
Empathy is more than feeling bad for someone who is going through a hard time. It is more than feeling glad for someone who has had success. Empathy is allowing yourself to feel the same emotions that other people feel—like crawling inside them to experience their pain or joy. Empathy leaves no room for jealousy over a friend’s success and no room to enjoy the failure of an enemy. As you empathize with others, God can break through to your own heart, softening it toward others and helping you to know exactly how to comfort and support them and meet their needs. As you seek to understand others, you will grow in your knowledge of how to best show love to them in obedience to God’s commandment to love one another.
Divine Promise
If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.
1 Corinthians 12:26
