Work

Work

My Question for God

How can I glorify God as a working mom or as a stay-at-home mom?

A Moment with God

On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. . . . The LORD God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.

Genesis 2:2, 15

Whether you work outside the home or at home raising your children, your work is anchored in God’s character; part of being made in his image is sharing the industrious and creative aspects of his nature. Your abilities to show creativity and responsibility at work and at home will inspire those same qualities in your family as they see your efforts to support them and to glorify God.

Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Whatever job God has called you to do, you do it with excellence and commitment because you serve a God of excellence and commitment. In whatever situation God has placed you, you have an opportunity to demonstrate a divine standard of excellence and commitment to those around you.

Some people work wisely with knowledge and skill, then must leave the fruit of their efforts to someone who hasn’t worked for it. This, too, is meaningless, a great tragedy.

Ecclesiastes 2:21

Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.

Romans 12:11

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward.

Colossians 3:23-24

God wants you to work diligently and with enthusiasm at whatever you do, whether you’re out showing houses or at home raising your children. When you think of your daily tasks as having been assigned by God, you will find yourself working for his approval rather than for others’ approval. When you work enthusiastically for God, you can be proud of the work you do, whether your workplace is at home or in some other place.

Divine Promise

God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers.
