In Good Hands

Into your hands I commit my spirit;

Numerous dots had to connect when it became apparent that God was leading us to move full-time aboard a sailboat. We had to find a suitable boat, secure finances, purge our belongings, and find a place to moor it despite there being a seven-year waiting list for live-aboard space. We had eight weeks to get it done, and I was writing a book under deadline at the time. To say I was overwhelmed is a massive understatement. Every morning I’d wake and pray, “Lord, help! Take responsibility for this. I can’t do this on my own.”

Remembering who the Lord is goes a long way in delivering us from fear and stress. He is Jehovah—the eternal God infinite in power, wisdom, goodness, and faithfulness. He rules the world, yet he knows the number of hairs on our head. Nothing is impossible for him.

It may seem sometimes as though God gives us more than we can handle. I believe that’s true. But I also believe there’s nothing he cannot handle on our behalf. When we feel overwhelmed, we’re in good hands.
