Snuggle
Snuggle
Even if my father and mother abandon me,
the Lord will hold me close.
Psalm 27:10 nlt
Pause
I looked forward to visiting our youngest granddaughter, Lexi, for her first birthday. Four months had passed since I’d last seen her, and I wasn’t sure whether she would remember me. I needn’t have worried. The moment I picked her up, she laid her head on my shoulder, snuggled, and smiled. Lexi did my “grandma heart” good.
I will cherish that sweet moment with Lexi forever. Perhaps that’s how our heavenly Father feels if we nestle into him when we’re in trouble. We might feel frantic or afraid. We might try to escape the pain. We might try to wrestle control from his hands. That’s our natural response if we don’t believe he’s trustworthy.
But if God is who he says he is, then he is completely trustworthy. He always has our best interest in mind and promises to be faithful. He accepts, guides, and protects us. He wants to hold us close, but he lets us choose.
Go ahead—rest your head on his shoulder and snuggle. Do his “father heart” good.
Ponder
Imagine God wrapping his gentle, strong arms around you. Relax. Smile.
Pray
Father, help me learn to nestle, not wrestle, when you hold me.
“Snuggle in God’s arms. When you are hurting, when you feel lonely, left out. Let Him cradle you, comfort you, reassure you of His all-sufficient power and love.”
