Reasons To Worship - In the Morning When I Rise

Reasons To Worship

Lord, how can I put my heart in a posture to worship you?

Never forget the good things I do for you. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear me, and you will gain knowledge of me. Worship me with gladness. Acknowledge that I am God! I made you, and you are mine. Enter my gates with thanksgiving; go into my courts with praise. Give thanks to me and bless my name.

Psalm 103:2; Proverbs 2:3-5; Psalm 100:2-4

How can I specifically worship you right now?

I am worthy to receive glory and honor and power. For I created all things, and they exist because I created what I pleased. I existed before anything else, and I hold all creation together. I hold you by your right hand—I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, “Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.” For I am a merciful God; I will not abandon you.

Revelation 4:11; Colossians 1:17; Isaiah 41:13; Deuteronomy 4:31

What can I pray as an act of worship to you?

Oh, Lord, how great are your riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for me to understand your decisions and your ways! For who can know your thoughts? Who knows enough to give you advice? And who has given you so much that you need to pay it back? For everything comes from you and exists by your power and is intended for your glory. All glory to you forever! Amen.

Romans 11:33-36

In his book The Spirit of the Disciplines, Dallas Willard writes, “In worship we engage ourselves with, dwell upon, and express the greatness, beauty, and goodness of God through . . . words, rituals, and symbols.” You can do this anytime and anywhere. Take time to reflect on God’s greatness described in his Word, his beauty shown in the world, and his goodness exhibited in your life. Respond to him with praise, thanksgiving, and worship.
