Magnificent Prayer #147
Magnificent Prayer #147
And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor.
Isaiah 59:16 KJV
That God seeks intercessors, but seldom finds them, is plain from the pain of His exclamation through Isaiah and His protest of disappointment through Ezekiel: “I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before Me for the land…but I found none.”

Pray About It: It seems amazing that there should be something that causes God to “wonder.” Sadly, that single cause of God’s wonder is that intercessors are not to be found.
Knowing what we do about the joy of prayer, do we not also wonder that there aren’t more intercessors?
If God didn’t answer prayer or wasn’t faithful, then there would be no need to wonder at the empty prayer closets. However, God tells us He delights in our prayers—and delights to answer.
It is indeed a wonder that more intercessors can’t be found. Who wouldn’t want to sign up? Pray today for God to raise up an army of faithful intercessors who will “make up the hedge”; “stand in the gap” for humankind.
If we ask why there is so little love to be found amongst Christians, why the very characteristic by which every one should know that we are disciples of the holy Jesus, is almost banished out of the Christian world, we shall find it, in a great measure, owing to a neglect or superficial performance of intercession, or imploring the divine grace and mercy in behalf of others.
