Magnificent Prayer #169
Magnificent Prayer #169
Brothers, pray for us.
1 Thessalonians 5:25
Remember, your intercessions can never be mine, and my intercessions can never be yours, but the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us, without which intercession someone will be impoverished. Let us remember the depth and height and solemnity of our calling as saints.
OSWALD CHAMBERS
Pray About It: There are prayers that only you can pray. There are prayers that only I can pray. There are people for whom no one else will pray, if not you. We can’t trade prayer lists and be as effective. God has put on your heart and mine those requests that only we can pray to fruition.
The word intercession comes from the Latin. The inter means “between” and cedere means “to go.” To intercede is to go between God and the person being prayed for.
It’s a solemn thing to be an intercessor. We have a responsibility to “go between” for those whom God has given us. Someday we shall see what our prayers accomplished. Until then, we intercede by faith.
It is of great consequence that our intercession for others should be personal, pointed, and definite.
